Slip and Fall
A 59-year old Vietnam veteran working as an engineer slipped and fell on the walkway at a local auto dealership after a winter storm. The area in which the Plaintiff fell was known to ice up from the regular discharge of water coming from a roof drain. The Plaintiff fractured his ankle and fell directly onto his back. A brief attempt at Mediation resulted in no settlement offer from Defendant. The jury trial lasted three days with the jury deliberating for approximately three hours before returning its verdict in favor of the Plaintiff. The jurys award of interest from the date of accident is estimated to have added over $400,000 to the verdict of 2 Million Dollars.
